Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour and create volume for the face, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

Dermal fillers are most popularly used to add volume to the lips, to make them look larger or more balanced. We also use filler to fill out under-eye hollows. They can also be used to contour the face adding volume/symmetry to the cheeks and chin and definition to the jawline. Results from dermal fillers are usually immediate. You may experience some swelling or bruising for a couple of weeks after treatment, once this subsides you will be able to see your final result.

This is different for everybody as each body is different. You can expect results to last up to 12 months – top ups will be needed to maintain the initial results.

Some clients report mild discomfort when having dermal fillers, and many say it doesn’t hurt at all! Tara is able to apply a numbing cream to most areas of the face before your treatment.

Most people find that the injections cause only mild local pain and tenderness. Immediately after the injection there may be swelling at the treated area which can last up to 2 weeks.  Bruising is also possible.

Your dermal fillers can last up to 12 months, you may want to get top ups at quarterly intervals to maintain the initial result.

• Avoid rubbing or touching the injected areas and avoid having facials and massage for 48 hours; this is to ensure that the treatment remains at the site of injection.
• Avoid vigorous exercise and alcohol-based products on the area treated for 48 hours.
• If bruising develops,  you can apply Arnica cream
• Paracetamol can be taken for mild pain post procedure

You may have some redness, tenderness, swelling and potentially bruising after your treatment. But downtime is not required and you can return to work/normal daily activities straight after treatment.
